RON HOUNIET’S FASTLANE TOP FUEL HARLEY
The excitement of the 2002 race season still has not worn off for myself or my crew Gil, Bill, Ross and Garrett.
We traveled to 16 race tracks from Tennessee to Edmonton to compete in both the CMDRA and the AHDRA Race Series, and raced against the Best in the business in both countries, racing Top Fuel Harleys has become a very serious sport , and my crew and I look forward to another exciting 2003 season on both sides of the border.

ADDICTED TO SPEED!
While out on a ride one sunny Friday afternoon, I noticed bikes racing at the local track. I hadn't really paid any attention to drag racing before and figured I'd pull in and check it out. After watching some very interesting machines and meeting some of the teams I decided to come back and participate in the weekend Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association All Bike event...

WHAT I LEARNED FROM DRAG RACING
Life has so many lessons to learn that, at times, I think I'll never make it to graduation. My life has held ups and downs, curve balls and avalanches - the road has never been smooth. The main thing is that I keep traveling along the way and I try to remember that it is not the destination but the journey.

POWER TWINS / PARTS CANADA all bike drags in Edmonton July 27/28,
2002
Once again Edmonton's weather kept the C.M.D.R.A. guessing as to whether or not the race was going to happen. Thankfully, both qualifying and eliminations were able to be completed, but not without some hurry up and wait time. Our hats are tipped to the competitors for their focus and their discipline in between the rounds. The show was presented at an accelerated pace and down time between rounds was kept to a minimum, so the Top Fuel crews really got to show their skills in preparing their equipment for the following rounds. Another bonus to being able to pull off the show so speedily was that there was very little breakage on the track so the show carried on at a good pace.
C.M.D.R.A. directors Mike Downey and Pete Nichols were acting as the staging lane coordinators and did a fine job of maintaining order at the start line, and Budweiser Motorsports Park supplied the starter and safety guys, who also did a great job. Thanks Guys.

CMDRA Y2K1 Series – Race
III
Well,
I Rode down South to Mission, BC, Canada to attend the 3rd Race in
the CMDRA Y2K1 Drag Bike Series sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Canada on
07/14-15/01. I was looking forward to my Road Trip as I had been working hard
and needed a break. Heading into sunny, warmer weather, I knew my Husband and I
would have a fabulous time in the CMDRA Pits.

ENDINGS
AND BEGINNINGS
Winter,
here again, touches my soul and I long for warm Summer breezes, the smell of
freshly cut grass, and to see blossoms on the trees. It’s only January now so
I had better nip this thing in the bud and snap out of it. In Northern
British Columbia, Canada, I’m neighbors with Old Man Winter!

RALLY
ROAD
Long
before this Rally even started I was counting the sleeps just like a Kid at
Christmastime…I went to the High Desert Rally & Races which had Nitro at
Nite in Ashcroft, BC, Canada on 08/25-26/01 to see the 5th Race of
the CMDRA Y2K1 Series. This was one of the best Events I’ve been to in awhile
and I’m still getting my mind around all that transpired…

WHAT
MAKES A CHAMPION?
Often I ponder
what makes a Person Successful, a Winner, or even what constitutes Greatness. We
are all Winners in the Game of Life; after all, we’re here aren’t we? But
sometimes I wonder “How do I get there from here?” How can I apply what I
have observed first hand into a formula for achievement that I can then readily
apply to my own Life?

IN THE PITS WITH THE CMDRA
Race II in the CMDRA 2001 Canadian Drag Bike Series was a huge success and
started out with a bang on June 22nd in Prince George, BC, Canada. For all those
unable to attend the action packed Nitro Weekend, I offer you my most sincere
condolences. What did you miss? Well, where do I start?

READY TO RALLY
Ground Zero - that place where I am coming from and know nothing. At times
it's scary - I wish I could add more to the conversations where my buddies are
talking about engines, peak performance and stuff - but I can't. Hard for me to
say, but it's true. Ask me just about anything else, I can espouse freely at
will but start talking about PSI, CI's and the like and I'm lost. Yup, that's
me, "Out in Left Field, trying to catch a ball without a glove." You
can see the wheels spinning as my mind tries to figure it out. Fortunately I
have lots of good people around me willing to share their knowledge - to teach;
and I am so ready to learn!

Australia’s
Reputation as a Sporting Nation Shattered
The
spotlight is again on the Australian Immigration Department as two Canadians and
one European, scheduled to compete in a World Championship motor sport event in
Melbourne next weekend have been denied entry into Australia because they are
members of a motorcycle club.

Mission
If any name in drag racing is synonymous with "go real fast" it is Mission Raceway Park in the Fraser Valley. This fantastic facility is nestled between the mighty Fraser River and the mountains, which give it the best air of perhaps any racetrack anywhere. The track personnel had the track surface set on kill as George had been spreading his magic goo for a couple of days before our race and to walk on the starting line you are inviting the track to pull the shoes off your feet...

Prince George
The 2nd race of the Y2K season was held the weekend of June 24 & 25 at North Central Motorsport Park. After the rain plagued 1999 season, it was nice to see that both race #1 in Edmonton and race #2 were bathed in hot, beautiful sunshine and hopefully this phenomenon will continue for the rest of the season...
